Acts of a Random Thought

The Mission

The mission is to address the various issues that are plaguing our community from Violence to the lack of Education resulting in the reverse progression of our children and our communities that are supposed to be raising them.  We utillize the creativity of the written and spoken words of poetry as a way to captivate the minds of every ear listening and encourage them believe in themselves and resurrect the feeling of the village. 

 

We will Speak Up about getting the people in every community better better health, we will Speak Out about encouraging everyone to stop the violence, and we will Shout If We Have To in order to ensure our children receive the best education.  We believe that poetry is a form of self-expression and self-discovery as well as a form of therapy.  Through poetry and music we are able to let go of what is bothering us, even if it is just for a moment. 

 

We encourage each participant in of our varoius workshops to write out your thoughts and feelings, express yourselves through your writing and word play instead of acting out in a way that may be harmful themselves or others.  What we have come to find out is that there are so many of our friends and family that are not always in a position to express themselves, which causes them confusion at times and longer periods of being lost trying to find out who they are because they have been mislead for far too long and in many different directions.  Let's find our way together.  Below is our pledge to you:

"We are the voice, the voice of the people silenced by fear, hidden agendas, and "oh well attitudes“ causing those with the ability to speak to lower the volume of their voice and put their mouths on mute.  As individuals we will Speak Up, yet in unity as a collective voice we will Speak Out!  We now declare the mute button is off, by the power invested in us… together we will succeed.  It is I… that holds the key to my destiny, I will achieve the vision of my dreams by me helping you and you helping me.  We are more than a Random Thought... We Change Lives.”
